Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma is a fantastic way to improve awareness while raising funds as you enjoy time with old friends and new. Together we can help support individuals impacted by scleroderma and ultimately find a cure!

2023 Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma - Detroit Stampede Details

The National Scleroderma Foundation’s Michigan Chapter’s Stepping Out to Cure Scleroderma walk is back in-person for 2023. Sign up as a walker, form or join a team, and help promote our event to reach and exceed our $100,000 fundraising goal!

When you register for the 2023 event, your $35 registration supports the National Scleroderma Foundation’s three-fold mission to provide educational and emotional support to people with scleroderma and their families; to stimulate and support research designed to identify the cause and cure of scleroderma as well as improving methods of treatment; and, to enhance the public's awareness of this disease.

Start by signing up, then grow your team by:
1. Inviting your friends and family to join your team and register for the walk.
2. Setting a fundraising goal for you and/or your team members. Remember, every dollar is a significant contribution.
3. When fundraising, take photos and share them with the Michigan Chapter. We will post them on our social media platforms.

**We’re challenging every individual to raise a minimum of $250. Did you know our top team leaders raise an average of $2,000 every year? If every team registered raised $2,000 (or more), we would easily exceed our fundraising goal of $100,000.

Thank you for your continued support and helping us get one step closer to finding a cure. Donations will be accepted through July 16, 2023.

Schedule of Events

7:00 a.m. - Check-in and Same-day Registration areas open
7:15 a.m. - Educational Program on the Main Stage Begins
7:30 a.m. - Vendor tents open and Children’s Game & Craft area open
8:00 a.m. - Raffle area opens
8:25 a.m. - Check-in and Same-day Registration areas close
NOTE: Zoo tickets & t-shirts stop being issued at 8:25 a.m.
8:35 a.m. - Walk begins: We are excited to announce that the walk will take place inside the zoo! There will be three routes: 1.5 mile, 1 mile, and 1/2 mile. The finish line will be inside the zoo.
9:00 a.m. - Zoo gates open to the public
9:45 a.m. - Finish line closes; raffle item winners will be displayed at the finish line
