Welcome Back, Robert Riggs

That National Scleroderma Foundation is pleased to welcome Robert Riggs back to the Foundation as the new Vice President of Philanthropy.

Robert brings more than three decades of experience in nonprofit leadership, philanthropy, cand organizational development. Throughout his career, he has strengthened mission-driven organizations through startup leadership, merger integration, organizational turnaround, and sustained growth.

A trusted philanthropic strategist, Robert has designed and led multimillion-dollar fundraising initiatives across a wide range of sectors, including healthcare, patient advocacy, faith-based organizations, and the visual and performing arts. His expertise spans foundation grants, major gifts, corporate partnerships, and donor-centered annual campaigns, with a strong emphasis on building sustainable development programs and fostering meaningful donor engagement.

Robert’s work is deeply connected to the patient advocacy community. He previously spent more than two decades in leadership within the Foundation, where he helped advance patient engagement and amplify the voices of those living with this rare autoimmune disease. His leadership in developing innovative programs, including initiatives that connected patients with clinical research and advisory opportunities, reflects his longstanding commitment to ensuring patient perspectives are represented at every level of healthcare.

Most recently, Robert served as Managing Director of a consultancy focused on elevating patient voices in clinical trials and healthcare delivery, leading strategic partnerships and advising organizations on patient-centered engagement.

Known for his collaborative, values-driven, and servant leadership style, Robert brings a thoughtful and strategic approach to philanthropy. He is passionate about aligning mission, resources, and community trust to drive meaningful, measurable, and lasting impact.
