Stay healthy for the holidays

It’s that time of year when we get excited to gather for the holidays, but also face cold and flu season. Couple that with the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses, and there’s a strong likelihood those gatherings carry a risk for individuals living with scleroderma. The National Scleroderma Foundation encourages our community to take appropriate safety precautions to avoid illness.
The Medical and Scientific Advisory Board, which serves as a link between the Foundation and the medical and research communities, recommends the following:

  • Ensure you’re up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations, and get your annual flu shot.
  • Wear a mask for indoor gatherings.
  • If you have symptoms of illness, avoid in-person group activities.
  • Follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.

As always, consult your physician for specific guidance on appropriate safety precautions to protect your health and well-being.
