It’s that time of year when we get excited to gather for the holidays, but also face cold and flu season. Couple that with the ongoing spread of COVID-19 and other contagious illnesses, and there’s a strong likelihood those gatherings carry a risk for individuals living with scleroderma. The National Scleroderma Foundation encourages our community to take appropriate safety precautions to avoid illness.
The Medical and Scientific Advisory Board, which serves as a link between the Foundation and the medical and research communities, recommends the following:
- Ensure you’re up to date on COVID-19 vaccinations, and get your annual flu shot.
- Wear a mask for indoor gatherings.
- If you have symptoms of illness, avoid in-person group activities.
- Follow Centers for Disease Control and Prevention guidelines.
As always, consult your physician for specific guidance on appropriate safety precautions to protect your health and well-being.
